Hey! Hey you. The buddy in the back of my friend’s mind, telling them they aren’t good enough? They aren’t smart enough? They aren’t doing enough? Their voice isn’t big enough? Their dream isn’t important enough? Their passion isn’t impressive enough? They, exactly as they are, aren’t doing life right?
You are wrong, lil guy. You need to sit the frick down, back up, and remember whose mind you’re taking up space in.
That human you are feeding lies to was crafted with a heart, body, and mind made INTENTIONALLY to disrupt their slice of the planet with exactly who they are.
They are strong. They are capable. They have plans set in place meant only for them. Their dream is real, their voice always matters, and their life is in Someone Else’s hands. They are done listening to you. And so am I.
Fight your own lies, friends. If you don’t stand firm in the value of your passions, no one else will either. And once you do, the world will JOIN YOU.
It’s up to you to launch that triumphant march towards the unknown, though. And I hope - with ALL. MY. HEART. - you start today.
I wanna talk about the things no one tends to talk about
The fact that broken people are broken but that doesn’t mean they’re done.
Why girls in STEM feel self conscious when they try to dress pretty.
How to stand up humbly, celebrate tough change, and admit you don’t know what to do.
I want to talk about how the logistics of scheduling a counseling session infuriates me, and that I truly believe fear of judgment just might come from our own personal judgments of others. There’s tens, hundreds, of ideas that matter as problems, and they might have solutions on their horizon.
But focusing on just one problem isn’t in my story quite yet. I have a lot of things I love to do, I care about, and I think our world needs to pay attention to. But so does every other human.
Hearing so many new things this week has actually made me sit back, listen, and be okay with the fact that it’s not my turn quite yet. But, it might be yours?
Our solution is not to blame.
It’s not the assumption that problems will fix themselves either. Instead we must have absolute faith in a deeper rooted rock that is holding our mangled up, messy mankind in place.
We must believe in the tie that binds good. We must believe in creativity, in the expression and celebration of ideas we’ve never thought hard about before, and in community built by people like you, unlike you, kind of like you, and completely polar to you. We must believe in the power of diversity of interests, that intelligence cannot be defined by one type of mind, and global movements are built by the humble ones.
Who’s to say tomorrow cannot bring forward an opportunity that yesterday had never thought feasible? We are not in control, but.. we can have faith.
We can use what we have to explode in the vertical and horizontal lines of influence we current absorb and then reach for larger spheres.
We can continue to run and we can rest when we need.
We are powerful by ourselves and with each other.
We are complex species created for higher purposes - and we ARE progressing.
Hold me back before I spend the rest of my life researching @traceeellisross, Jaron Lanier, and Steven Pinker, drinking more @lacolombecoffee than water, and attending every TED event that ever happens, ever. TEDFest - you're teaching me the world. (literally)
HEYO. I'm Chlo.
So the basic gist is I’m really just tired of comparing myself to perfect people on the Internet, when I know for a fact that "perfect" doesn't exist. This here is a snippet of my inner thoughts and tidbits of experience, based on my twenty-something years of good ole fashioned, really really messy life.
My wish is for this blog to serve the small voices inside all of us that might have forgotten what being honest online can look like. Leave the hustle behind you, because this here is about HEART.
