Stop living for your LinkedIn life update.
It’s not about that. None of this is about that. No matter if 1,000 people like your “new job” post on Facebook, your hands-in-the-air Insta, your pop of champagne when the job finally’s settled.
These moments are special, yes! They’re joyful, filled with laughter and praise, and a well earned release from your hard earned journey. They’re fun to prepare for, fun to take, and really fun to share. But friend, do not live for them.
One day may come once you’re there, in that job, at that place, when you find you’re not happily fulfilled every hour of every day. These titles and ambitions do not support who we are when we’re only on our own. When we’re only ourselves, drinking coffee in the morning and spending time with sweet people. They’re not who we are when we’re broken, we’re lost, or we can’t remember how we made it this way.
Serve before you sell.
Give before you get.
Offer your gifts without being asked.
And take your daily bread.
Live for your heart. Ask for a good heart. Celebrate good hearts. Pray for bad hearts. Cry when your heart hurts. Laugh when your heart soars. Live out the way your heart has been created to live.
And all of a sudden you will wake up to a LinkedIn post you might have one day envied and you will smile. Because it’s a sprinkle of joy to another great life.
But it’s not where you live.
It’s not who He is.
It’s not who He ever, EVER, said He needed you to be.
Hi, I'm Chlo.
I've been writing and reading and all the storytelling things since I learned as a kid that if you fold and staple construction paper together, it sort of looks like a real book. I have always craved soul serving stories- ones that melt like butter in your mind as you hear your heart explained out loud.
This here is my home away from home. When I'm not exploring neighborhood coffeehouses, driving down the Pacific Coast (again), or loving on all my people - I'm probably here, with you. Come on in! Scroll around. I hope you feel less alone.
